It all started on a family vacation when I was 18. I watched my sister apply sunscreen for 20 minutes and still end up with a splotchy and uneven tan.

After researching sunscreen, I realized that sunscreen sales continue to soar yet more people have skin cancer than all other cancers combined. People are purchasing sunscreen yet only one-third apply it correctly. Since that moment, I have made it my mission to revolutionize the way we put on sunscreen. I knew that if I was able to make sunscreen application easy and encourage everyone to use sunscreen daily, we would be able to reduce the skin cancer epidemic, together.

Right after that historic family vacation, I started college at Cornell University. During my time as a student, I worked on perfecting the technology, speaking with hotels about what the machine should look like and built three versions of the machine while in school. See Snappy 1 below (the green tiki hut!) As I junior, I brought Snappy 3 to a Caribbean hotel for guests to use as a proof of concept. At the resort, we ran out of sunscreen in 4 days – I knew we were onto something!

After college, I took on SnappyScreen full-time and we launched our first machine at Four Seasons. Today, ten years & six SnappyScreen machine upgrades later, the machines are available at luxury hotels across the world at brands such as Four Seasons, Rosewood, Fairmont, Marriott, etc.
