Meet Kristen
It started on a family vacation when I was 18.
I watched my sister apply sunscreen for nearly 20 minutes, trying to reach every spot, and still end up with uneven coverage. It struck me that sunscreen wasn’t failing people. The application process was.
When I researched, the numbers were hard to ignore. Sunscreen sales kept climbing, yet skin cancer rates continued to rise - more so than any other cancer combined. More people than ever were purchasing sunscreen, but only a fraction were applying it correctly.
That gap stayed with me. I became determined to make sunscreen effortless, reliable, and something people would actually use. What started as frustration became a mission: to make sun protection simple enough that more people can truly protect their skin.
HOW IT'S GOING

2008
The First Yes
As a freshman at Cornell, I entered a campus pitch competition with the early concept for what would become SnappyScreen. I won. More importantly, it was proof that this wasn’t just a family vacation idea; it was something real.

2012
Early prototypes
After months of convincing engineering students to help prototype the idea (pizza often helped), we built the first touchless sunscreen machine.
I spent the rest of college career refining prototypes and testing them with real users. I entered additional pitch competitions to fund development and became a finalist on mtvU’s Movers & Changers. Each step sharpened both the product and the vision.

2018
R&D and Expansion
By 2018, my sister Katelyn joined the team full time, and together we built the first version that truly met our standards. We secured early trial locations in Aruba and the Bahamas and expanded into leading hospitality brands, including Four Seasons and Marriott. What began as a campus pitch was now serving guests around the world.

2010
Adapting When It Mattered
When travel slowed, we didn’t. We applied our spray technology expertise to launch touchless hand sanitizer systems and portable applicators, meeting the moment while staying true to our core competency: touchless, even coverage.

today
Built to Scale
Travel is stronger than ever, and so are we. The current SnappyScreen delivers complete, even, clothing-safe coverage in 10 seconds. Our partners continue to grow across luxury hospitality, resorts, and private clubs, and our retail lines expand access to our formulas beyond the machine.
What hasn’t changed is the mission that started all of this: make sun protection easy enough that people actually use it.
